Ethicronics
Low-level software securing electronics at scale - ensuring hardware authenticity and resilience across critical systems
About Ethicronics
Ethicronics Ltd is a Cambridge-based deep-tech company developing scalable software solutions to secure and verify electronic hardware across critical systems. Founded in 2022 by hardware security expert Dr Franck Courbon, the company addresses a growing challenge: ensuring the authenticity, integrity, and trustworthiness of electronics in increasingly complex and globalised supply chains.
Ethicronics builds low-level, software-driven technologies that operate at the hardware–software boundary, enabling detection of counterfeit, compromised, or tampered components -from printed circuit boards (PCBs) to advanced semiconductor structures. Unlike traditional approaches relying heavily on physical inspection, Ethicronics provides scalable, software-centric assurance that can be integrated into existing manufacturing, procurement, and operational workflows.
This capability is particularly critical in sectors where hardware compromise has high consequences, including defence, aerospace, datacentres, telecommunications, and critical infrastructure. By enabling continuous and deployable verification, Ethicronics helps organisations reduce systemic risk, improve resilience, and strengthen trust in their electronic systems.
The company serves a B2B customer base including semiconductor companies, OEMs, system integrators, and government stakeholders requiring robust hardware assurance. Its solutions are designed to scale with modern production volumes while maintaining high levels of security and reliability.
Ethicronics has secured $1.5M in funding and is supported by leading innovation programmes, including Innovate UK, the UK National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) for Startups, and the Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA). The company is also part of NATO DIANA (2026 cohort) and ranked in the UK Startups 100 (2026) Position #55. It has received multiple awards, including Business Weekly Graduate Business of the Year 2024 and French Chamber of Commerce in Great Britain Small Business of the Year 2024.
Positioned at the intersection of cybersecurity, deep-tech software, and hardware assurance, Ethicronics is building the foundation for scalable trust in electronics -enabling organisations to verify, secure, and rely on the hardware underpinning modern digital infrastructure.
