About Emgo
Emgo NV was a glass manufacturer based in Lommel, Belgium, and part of the Philips and Osram lighting group. Active since 1966, it produced glass tubing, rods, shaped tubing and bulbs, mainly as components for the lighting industry (incandescent, fluorescent, energy-saving and automotive lamps), and later also supplied glass for solar collectors and for pharmaceutical packaging and labware. Falling demand for incandescent lamp components led the company to announce the closure of the plant in June 2012. After the Renault consultation procedure, the board confirmed the decision in August 2012 and the factory closed in 2013, when around 135 people still worked there. The site was later acquired by the Swiss group Glas Trösch for a new flat-glass plant.
