About Elevate Research

Elevate Research and Health Services is a not-for-profit organization based in Uganda that focuses on bridging the gap between research and practical health outcomes. It was established in 2019 with the initial goal of offering hands-on health research experience to graduate students from Makerere University's School of Public Health. The organization was formally registered in 2020 to expand its scope to include evidence-based research, consultancy, and community health services.

The foundation of the organization is closely tied to its founders' academic and professional backgrounds at Makerere University. Tom Okade, the Managing Director, is an Environmental Health Scientist and Public Health Researcher who also serves as a Research Associate at the university. Chief Operations Officer Gloria Namazzi and Finance Secretary Evelyn Nakuya are both graduates of Environmental Health Science from the same institution. This academic linkage provides a strong foundation for the organization's research-focused mission. Other key team members include Dr. Micheal Segawa, a medical doctor who assists with project design and proposal development.

Elevate Research and Health Services operates as a research and consultancy firm. Its business model revolves around conducting and supporting research projects, offering data management and analysis, and providing project monitoring and evaluation. The organization generates evidence to inform decision-making in public health, social sciences, and agriculture. It serves a diverse clientele that includes academic institutions, non-profit organizations, international NGOs, government bodies, and private companies. The services offered are comprehensive, guiding clients from the initial concept and proposal writing all the way through to data collection, analysis, and final reporting. Specific services include baseline and end-line surveys, implementation research, and program evaluations. Additionally, the firm provides training and capacity-building packages in research methodologies, data management, and proposal writing to empower other organizations and early-career researchers.

The organization's service portfolio is designed to turn complex data into actionable insights for its partners. It develops data management plans, designs questionnaires, and utilizes a range of software for data collection and analysis, such as STATA, SPSS, and R. A key aspect of its work is a commitment to ethical practices, with all studies undergoing ethical review to ensure data quality and confidentiality. By collaborating with various health agencies and organizations across Uganda, Elevate Research and Health Services aims to co-create research and deliver programs that advance public health and community development.
