Ekart Logistics
EKART is India's largest logistics and supply chain company
About Ekart Logistics
In 2009, as the Indian e-commerce market was just beginning to take shape, Flipkart's founders, Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal, launched Ekart as their in-house supply chain arm. Initially, its purpose was simple: solve the complex logistics of delivering goods to customers in a rapidly growing, but infrastructurally diverse, country. Ekart was created to ensure that Flipkart could control the customer experience from click to delivery. Originally a part of a company called WS Retail, which was also founded by the Bansals, Ekart's structure underwent changes to navigate India's complex regulations. In a strategic move to simplify its corporate structure, Flipkart acquired Ekart in 2012, bringing its critical logistics operations formally under its direct control. This integration was pivotal, allowing Ekart to scale its operations and handle the immense volume of shipments generated by Flipkart, at one point delivering 85% of all its orders. As Flipkart grew, so did Ekart's ambitions. In a significant move in May 2022, Ekart externalized its services, offering its end-to-end logistics and supply chain solutions to other brands, platforms, and businesses across India. This transformation from a captive logistics arm to a standalone business unit was backed by substantial investment, including a notable infusion of funds from Klick2Shop Logistics Services in 2017. Today, Ekart stands as one of India's largest logistics companies, a testament to its journey from an internal support function to a powerhouse in the Indian logistics industry.
