EHelp
Automated user assistance software for applications, intranets, and web
About EHelp
In the early 1990s, the world of software was booming, but making it user-friendly was a significant challenge. In 1990, a company named Blue Sky Software was founded to tackle this problem head-on. Its flagship product, RoboHelp, was created by Gen Kiyooka and first released in 1992 to assist developers in creating professional help systems for their applications. As the internet grew, so did the need for clear, accessible user assistance online. Blue Sky Software, led by CEO Anthony Olivier, carved out a crucial niche. Recognizing its evolving mission, the company rebranded as eHelp Corporation in April 2000. Under this new name, it continued to develop powerful tools like RoboHelp and RoboDemo, which simplified the creation of help documentation and software simulations. These tools were vital for improving the usability of both desktop and web-based applications, ultimately reducing support costs for businesses. The company's success and specialized focus did not go unnoticed. In October 2003, the multimedia and web development giant Macromedia acquired eHelp Corporation. The acquisition was a strategic move for Macromedia, adding eHelp's respected authoring tools to its powerful suite that included Flash and Dreamweaver. This event marked the end of eHelp's journey as an independent company but solidified its legacy, as its products were integrated into a larger ecosystem, eventually becoming part of Adobe's portfolio after its subsequent acquisition of Macromedia in 2005.
