Easpring Material Technology
Easpring Material Technology is a Chinese high-tech enterprise engaged in the research and development of new energy materials
About Easpring Material Technology
Easpring Material Technology, established in 2001 by researchers from a prominent research institute, operates as a key supplier in the lithium-ion battery materials sector. The company went public in 2010, listing on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. Headquartered in Beijing, China, Easpring specializes in the research, development, production, and sale of cathode materials essential for lithium-ion batteries.
The company's business model is centered on manufacturing and selling high-performance battery materials directly to battery manufacturers. Its revenue streams are primarily derived from the sale of cathode materials, which include a diverse product portfolio such as lithium cobalt oxide, nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM), lithium iron phosphate (LFP), and lithium manganese iron phosphate (LMFP). These materials are critical components for batteries used in electric vehicles (EVs), energy storage systems (ESS), digital consumer electronics, and power tools. Easpring serves a global client base that includes major battery producers like LG Energy Solution, Samsung SDI, SK On, and CATL, which in turn supply top automotive manufacturers such as Volkswagen, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz.
A significant strategic initiative is the company's expansion into Europe. Easpring has formed a joint venture, Easpring Finland New Materials Oy, with the state-owned Finnish Minerals Group to build a cathode active material (CAM) plant in Kotka, Finland. This facility, an approximately €800 million investment, will initially have the capacity to produce 60,000 tonnes of NCM per year, with plans for future expansion to a total of 500,000 t/yr, including LFP and LMFP. Construction began in 2025, with commercial production targeted for 2027 to serve the growing European EV market. Dr. Chen Yanbin serves as the Chairman of the Board.
