About DriveBid

DriveBid operated as an online automotive marketplace, conceptualized as a platform where vehicle owners could solicit competitive bids from car dealerships. This consumer-to-business (C2B) model was designed to empower private sellers to secure optimal offers for their vehicles by creating a competitive bidding environment for dealers seeking to acquire inventory directly from the public.

The platform was a product of DrivenIQ, a data-driven intelligence and advertising technology firm founded by Albert Thompson. Thompson, a former car dealer and digital advertising specialist, established DrivenIQ to provide businesses with advanced tools for audience data analysis and marketing campaign activation. DriveBid was a strategic extension of this core business, aiming to leverage DrivenIQ's data capabilities within the automotive retail sector. The business model was structured to be free for consumers, with revenue generated by charging dealers a fee only when a vehicle purchase was finalized through the platform. The platform's features included real-time bidding, immediate cash offers, and VIN/license plate scanning to streamline the vehicle listing process for consumers.

Significant developments in the corporate structure have since altered the company's trajectory. In October 2021, Capstone Technologies Group, Inc. took an initial minority interest in DrivenIQ, providing capital to accelerate growth. Following this, DrivenIQ announced a $15 million Series A funding round in August 2022, backed by Capstone. However, by November 2024, Capstone Technologies Group acquired substantially all of DrivenIQ's assets through a foreclosure sale. The business and its technologies are now operated under Capstone's wholly-owned subsidiary, VisitIQ, LLC. This entity continues to focus on AI-driven marketing intelligence and audience targeting, with the automotive industry remaining a key vertical, though the DriveBid platform itself is no longer promoted. Albert Thompson, the original founder, has since moved on and now holds a position as Managing Director of Digital Innovation at Walton Isaacson.
