Dream Farm, an agricultural corporation founded in 2012 by CEO Park Hyang-jin, is making significant strides in the AgTech sector from its headquarters in South Korea. The company’s genesis is a story of resilience and adaptation; after a challenging venture into mushroom farming, Park pivoted to the cultivation of high-value ginseng sprouts (“saessak-sam”). This successful shift, born from leveraging existing facilities, illuminated the need for more accessible and simplified farming methods, leading to the creation of Dream Farm's core offering.

The company's primary product is the 'Smart Farm Cube,' a container-based, modular vertical farming system. These cubes are sophisticated, self-contained agricultural facilities that use ICT and IoT to meticulously control environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, light, and CO2 levels. This technology enables the year-round, pesticide-free cultivation of over 100 different types of crops, irrespective of external climate or location. The product line includes various models like LED-powered, solar-powered, and mixed-light cubes, designed to be cost-effective alternatives to traditional large-scale greenhouses.

Dream Farm operates on a comprehensive business model that extends beyond merely selling hardware. The company provides a full-service platform, functioning like a franchise, which supports farmers throughout the entire agricultural lifecycle. This includes selling the Smart Farm Cubes, supplying necessary materials like seedlings, and managing the distribution and sale of the harvested crops. Revenue is generated from three primary streams: the sale of the cubes (40%), the supply of cultivation materials (30%), and the distribution and marketing of the produce (30%). For produce that doesn't meet top-grade standards, the company facilitates its use in processed goods such as health supplements and cosmetics. This integrated approach is designed to provide farmers, including retirees and those new to agriculture, with a stable, 'salary-like' income.

A key achievement is the development of proprietary cultivation technology for high-value, temperature-sensitive crops like wasabi and summer strawberries, which are difficult to grow using conventional methods in Korea. The firm has also expanded its technological frontier into what it calls a 'metabolite farming system,' which uses external stimuli to increase the beneficial compounds in plants. With significant international contracts, including a major $120 million deal to establish smart farms in Saudi Arabia, Dream Farm is positioned for substantial global expansion.
