Diodes Incorporated

In 1959, Diodes Incorporated began its journey not as a manufacturer, but as a regional semiconductor trading company. For three decades, the company operated in relative obscurity. The playbook changed dramatically in 1990 when Silitek Corporation, a Taiwanese manufacturer, acquired a 46% stake. This event marked the pivotal shift from a small trading firm to an ambitious manufacturing enterprise. A year later, control was transferred to Silitek’s subsidiary, Lite-On Power Semiconductor Corporation, which installed new management and a new philosophy. This set Diodes on a path of aggressive growth, expanding its product lines and focusing on customer service and inventory. The company's initial public offering (IPO) occurred on November 10, 1966, years before this transformative acquisition. The 21st century saw Diodes accelerate its strategy through key acquisitions. In 2000, the company purchased FabTech, a US-based silicon wafer foundry, bolstering its manufacturing capabilities. This was followed by a series of strategic buys, including Zetex plc in 2008 and Pericom Semiconductor in 2015, which expanded its portfolio into high-performance analog products and signal-processing. Today, Diodes is a global manufacturer and supplier of a wide range of semiconductor products for the consumer, computing, communications, industrial, and automotive markets.
