Dhruva Space Private Limited operates as a full-stack space engineering solutions provider, positioning itself at the forefront of India's private space sector. The company was founded in Hyderabad, India, in 2012 by Sanjay Srikanth Nekkanti, who was later joined by his school and college friends Abhay Egoor, Krishna Teja Penamakuru, and Chaitanya Dora Surapureddy. Nekkanti, who serves as CEO, conceived the company with the vision of leading the privatization of India's space industry, an idea he incubated while pursuing a dual-degree Master's in Space Engineering in Europe. His journey in space technology began at age 19, contributing to India's first student nano-satellite project, SRMSAT.

The company's business model is vertically integrated, covering the three core pillars of a space mission: the space segment, the launch segment, and the ground segment. Dhruva Space provides these services as an integrated, end-to-end solution or as individual technology offerings, catering to a global clientele that includes commercial, governmental, and defense entities. Revenue is generated through the design, development, and sale of satellite platforms, space-grade solar arrays, launch services, and ground station solutions. For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2024, the company reported revenues of ₹13.6 crore. To support its growth, Dhruva Space has raised a total of $16.1 million over seven funding rounds, with its Series A round closing at $15 million in April 2024. These funds are earmarked for the development of a new 280,000-square-foot spacecraft manufacturing facility in Hyderabad.

Dhruva Space's product portfolio is centered on modular and scalable satellite platforms designed for various applications, including Earth observation, IoT, communications, and national security. The platforms range from the P-DoT CubeSat (1-24 kg) to the P-30 NanoSat and the P-90 MicroSat, capable of accommodating payloads up to 500 kg. A key offering is the company's proprietary satellite orbital deployers (DSOD), which have been successfully space-qualified through missions with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The company has achieved significant milestones, including becoming the first Indian private company to secure an order for space-grade solar arrays and the first to have privately-built satellites, Thybolt-1 and Thybolt-2, authorized by IN-SPACe and successfully deployed into orbit. Its upcoming LEAP-1 mission, a commercial hosted payload service, is scheduled to launch on a SpaceX Falcon 9, demonstrating its global reach.
