DEN, legally known as DEN DEVICES LIMITED, was a London-based smart home technology company established in 2013 by Yasser Khattak. Khattak conceived the business idea at the age of 17 while studying for his A-levels and subsequently left his studies to focus on the venture full-time. The company aimed to redefine the standard light switch and plug socket for the modern, connected home.

The core business involved the manufacture and retail of smart light switches and power sockets. DEN's product line included smart switches, dimmers, sockets, motion sensors, and a central smart hub required for connectivity. A distinguishing feature of DEN's hardware was its mechanical nature; when a user controlled a switch or socket via the smartphone app, the physical rocker on the wall would also move, providing clear visual feedback. The system operated on a proprietary wireless mesh protocol and was compatible with voice assistants like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Through the companion app, users could remotely control their devices, set schedules, receive notifications, and monitor the real-time energy consumption of individual appliances.

The business model was centered on the direct sale of its hardware to consumers, primarily through online channels. The company secured over $6.43 million in funding across two seed rounds, which included a successful equity crowdfunding campaign. Despite its promising start and raising significant capital, DEN faced challenges, including manufacturing delays. Ultimately, the company ceased trading, and its servers were shut down in late 2019, leading to the appointment of liquidators in December 2019, marking the end of its operations.
