About Deftpower

Deftpower is a Dutch technology company founded in 2020 by Jacob van Zonneveld, Marc Diks, and Remco Tjeerdsma. Operating from Arnhem and Berlin, the company provides a cloud-based, AI-powered software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform for the electric vehicle (EV) charging ecosystem.

The founders leveraged their experience in the energy, automotive, and building industries to address the complexities of EV charging. The company’s core product is a white-label Automotive Charging Platform that serves as a backend for eMobility Service Providers (eMSPs), including car manufacturers, leasing companies, and energy suppliers. This allows clients to offer customized, branded charging apps and services to EV drivers. The platform's business model is twofold: it facilitates the sale of electricity for charging and also enables trading the flexibility of charging times on energy markets, creating an additional revenue stream.

Deftpower's technology aims to optimize the charging process by connecting EV drivers, charge point operators (CPOs), and grid operators. Its AI-driven smart charging capabilities anticipate charging needs and shift charging sessions to off-peak hours when renewable energy is more abundant and electricity prices are lower. This helps to reduce costs for drivers, decrease CO2 emissions, and alleviate strain on the electrical grid. Key features include Plug&Charge functionality based on the ISO 15118 standard for seamless authentication and payment, access to over 800,000 charging points across Europe, and tools for business clients to manage electricity purchasing and sales.

Since its inception, Deftpower has secured significant funding, including a €12.5 million round in August 2025 led by Endeit Capital and a €2.5 million grant from the EU EIC Accelerator to address grid congestion. The company serves over 40 clients in 10 European countries and has established strategic partnerships, such as a collaboration with leasing company Athlon to provide smart charging for its fleet.
