DeepCube
Provides the first software-based inference accelerator, resulting in a drastic improvement of deep learning performance on any existing hardware
About DeepCube
DeepCube operates as the industrial AI division of Nano Dimension, focusing on the application of deep learning to advance manufacturing processes into the Industry 4.0 era. The company was founded in Tel Aviv, Israel, in 2017 by Dr. Eli David and Yaron Eitan. Dr. David, a distinguished AI expert with extensive research in deep learning, brought his academic and practical knowledge to the role of CTO. Yaron Eitan, a serial technology entrepreneur and investor, provided business guidance as Executive Chairman. In December 2020, Michael Zimmerman, an industry veteran with experience in scaling AI startups, was appointed CEO to accelerate commercialization.
A significant milestone occurred in April 2021, when Nano Dimension, a specialist in additively manufactured electronics (AME), acquired DeepCube for approximately $70 million. This acquisition integrated DeepCube's AI capabilities with Nano Dimension's 3D printing technology to create a smart fabrication network. The vision was to build an AI-driven, distributed digital fabrication solution to manage the entire supply chain for printed electronics, improving yield, quality, and throughput.
The core of DeepCube's business is a software-based deep learning acceleration platform designed to enhance performance on existing hardware. Its patented technology, modeled after the human brain's development, sparsifies and restructures neural networks during training to significantly reduce their size and computational footprint without sacrificing accuracy. This allows for deployment on both large-scale data centers and resource-constrained intelligent edge devices. The product suite includes CubeIQ, an automated training framework; CubeEngine, a specialized inference engine to run the optimized models; and CubeAdvisor, an expert consulting service. This technology serves a diverse client base across industries such as robotics, automotive, 3D printing, and oil & gas, offering solutions for machine health monitoring, product quality assessment, and process optimization. By making deep learning models more efficient, DeepCube enables real-time AI applications in complex manufacturing environments, reducing operational costs and boosting production efficiency.
