About DeCurret

DeCurret DCP Inc. is a Japanese fintech company focused on developing and operating a digital currency platform. The company's primary offering is the DCJPY Network, a platform that enables the issuance and circulation of tokenized bank deposits, referred to as DCJPY. This system is designed to facilitate secure, near-real-time settlements for a variety of commercial and institutional use cases.

The original company, DeCurret Inc., was established in January 2018 as a joint venture of 19 leading Japanese companies, including Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ) and MUFG Bank. In December 2021, the company transitioned to a holding company structure, creating DeCurret Holdings, Inc. The digital currency business was subsequently spun off into a dedicated subsidiary, DeCurret DCP Inc., which was originally established as Digital Currency Lab Inc. in February 2020. The crypto-asset exchange business of the original DeCurret Inc. was later acquired by Amber Group in February 2022 and renamed Amber Japan. As of July 2026, DeCurret Holdings decided to merge with its subsidiary DeCurret DCP to improve management efficiency and accelerate decision-making.

DeCurret DCP's core product, the DCJPY Network, utilizes a two-layer blockchain architecture. The "Financial Zone" is where participating banks mint and manage the tokenized deposits. The "Business Zone" is where corporate clients can develop and deploy applications that use these digital currencies for transactions, including the tokenization of other assets like renewable energy certificates. This structure allows for programmable money, where smart contracts can automate transactions, and atomic settlement, which eliminates settlement risk by ensuring simultaneous exchange. The platform operates in compliance with Japanese regulations, and DeCurret DCP is registered as an Electronic Payment Services Operator. The first commercial use case for the DCJPY network launched in the summer of 2024, involving the digitalization and settlement of environmental value transactions with partners like Internet Initiative Japan and GMO Aozora Net Bank. The company has also formed strategic partnerships with firms like Partior and SBI Shinsei Bank to explore cross-border transactions and multi-currency tokenized deposits.
