Data Dock Inc., founded in 2016, operated a sustainable data center in Nagaoka, Niigata Prefecture, Japan, before ceasing operations. The company, officially named Space Kit Inc. at the time of its liquidation, was established to address the growing demand for data centers to handle AI and blockchain processing. The Nagaoka Data Center was designed as a "big data specification data center" capable of housing high-density IT environments like GPU servers and HPC systems.

A core feature of the data center was its green energy model. Located in a region known for heavy snowfall, the facility pioneered a hybrid air conditioning system that used cold outside air and snow/ice to significantly reduce power consumption for server cooling—by approximately 40% compared to conventional data centers. This model was the first of its kind in Japan to be registered under the J-Credit scheme, a government-administered carbon offsetting program that certifies greenhouse gas emission reductions. The company aimed to reduce CO2 emissions by 2,000 tons annually and provide these credits to its clients.

Data Dock also proposed a unique 'sustainable data center model' where waste heat from IT equipment would be repurposed to support adjacent aquaponics farming facilities, creating a business that satisfied environmental, social, and economic needs. In addition to its data center services, the company launched a SaaS-based data preparation service called "Data Dock Dataprep Service" to help users process and format big data for BI and AI tools.

Despite its innovative approach, the company faced financial difficulties. High depreciation costs led to significant losses, and the company eventually transferred its data center and data preparation service businesses to other entities. Space Kit Inc. (formerly Data Dock) began special liquidation proceedings in October 2022 after a shareholder resolution to dissolve the company in June 2022. The facilities and operations were taken over by other companies and continue to be in use.
