Cypress Communications
Hosted VoIP and unified communications provider
About Cypress Communications
Cypress Communications was a provider of hosted and managed voice, data, and internet solutions for small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs). The company's flagship product was its C4 IP solution, a hosted Voice over IP (VoIP) and unified communications platform. This service provided bundled voice and data access, PBX calling features, video calling, web conferencing, and messaging. Cypress aimed to offer an enterprise-class, end-to-end managed solution, which included desktop phones, LAN/WAN components, and a secure IP network, removing the need for clients to manage on-site equipment.
The company was headquartered in Atlanta, GA. In 2002, U.S. RealTel, Inc. acquired Cypress Communications. Subsequently, in a transaction valued at $41.5 million, an affiliate of Arcapita Inc. acquired Cypress Communications Holding Co., Inc. in 2005, taking the company private. By 2011, Broadvox Communications acquired Cypress. The consolidation continued when Broadview Networks, which had its own history of acquisitions, was itself acquired by Windstream Holdings in 2017 for $227.5 million.
