About CyberDefender

CyberDefender Corporation, originally established as Network Dynamics in 2003, was a consumer and small business-focused cybersecurity company. The company was co-founded by Gary Guseinov, who served as its CEO and Chairman, leading it to become a publicly traded company on the NASDAQ exchange. Mr. Guseinov, with a background in direct marketing and ad technology, grew the company's revenue to over $100 million. His earlier venture in 1994, a digital performance marketing company, managed substantial media spending for large corporations, an experience that shaped CyberDefender's direct-to-consumer marketing strategy.

The company's business model revolved around providing a suite of internet security products and services. These included antivirus and antispyware software, PC optimization tools, identity theft protection, and online backup solutions. CyberDefender utilized a direct response marketing approach, using channels like television and radio to reach its customer base, a strategy that differentiated it from competitors focused on enterprise clients. Some of its well-known brands included MyCleanPC, MaxMySpeed, and DoubleMySpeed. The company also offered remote 24/7 technical support, aiming to be a comprehensive solution for its users' digital security needs.

Facing a challenging economic climate and difficulties in raising capital on the public market, CyberDefender Corporation filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in February 2012. At the time of the filing, the company had approximately 677,000 active subscribers. An attempt to sell its assets to an affiliate of Guthy-Renker Corp. was part of the bankruptcy proceedings. However, the company ultimately ceased all operations in December 2012 after a Chapter 7 liquidation filing. Following the bankruptcy, the CyberDefender brand was acquired by RealDefense, a holding company also led by Gary Guseinov, which continues to develop and market security and privacy software.
