The founding team combines extensive experience from the military, defense contracting, and high-growth technology sectors. Co-founder and CEO Nathan Mintz previously founded the defense unicorn Epirus and spent 14 years as an engineer at Raytheon and Boeing. President and Co-founder Mark Trefgarne founded LiveRail, a video ad exchange acquired by Meta for a reported $500 million. Porter Smith, another co-founder, is a U.S. Military Academy at West Point graduate who flew helicopters for the U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command and later worked as an investment partner at Andreessen Horowitz. The fourth co-founder, Lee Thompson, led the RF engineering team at SpaceX, contributing to the communications platform for Starship.

CX2's core offering is a platform designed to autonomously detect, classify, and counter radio frequency (RF) threats at the tactical edge. This system provides spectrum awareness by discovering and tracking emitters, even in GPS-denied environments, and can offer visual confirmation through high-resolution image capture. The platform's modular, hardware-agnostic architecture allows for deployment across various systems like drones and vehicles, aiming for faster iteration and lower costs than traditional, large-scale EW systems. The technology is designed to enable rapid kinetic responses to threats identified on the RF spectrum. The company has secured significant funding to advance these solutions, including a $15 million seed round and a $31 million Series A round in 2025, led by Point72 Ventures with participation from firms like Andreessen Horowitz and 8VC.
