About Curiteva
Curiteva, a privately held medical device company headquartered in Tanner, Alabama, operates at the intersection of manufacturing and technology to advance spinal surgery. Founded in 2017 by Chad Falciani and Eric Linder, the company was established to address a need for a platform that integrates in-house manufacturing, rapid research and development, and strong business principles. Falciani, who serves as Chairman of the Board, has over two decades of experience as a healthcare entrepreneur, previously founding and leading FMI Medical to a successful exit. Linder, the Chief Technology Officer, has developed more than 25 FDA-cleared systems in spine and orthopedics.
The company's business model is centered on designing, manufacturing, and commercializing a portfolio of proprietary spinal implants and instruments, serving surgeons, hospitals, and distributors. Curiteva's revenue is generated through the sale of these medical devices. A pivotal moment in the company's history was the December 2020 acquisition of FossiLabs, LLC, a specialist in 3D printed PEEK medical implants. This acquisition brought in inventor Todd Reith, who now serves as Vice President of Emerging Technology, and his proprietary Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) 3D printing process.
This proprietary technology is the foundation of Curiteva's flagship product line, the Inspire™ platform. This platform features the world's first FDA-cleared 3D printed, fully interconnected porous PEEK (polyether ether ketone) spinal implants. Unlike traditional solid PEEK or titanium implants, the Inspire implants have a trabecular, porous structure that mimics natural human bone, designed to promote osseointegration—the process of bone growing into and fusing with the implant. A key differentiator is the HAFUSE™ nanotechnology surface treatment, a bioactive sub-micron surface of hydroxyapatite that creates a hydrophilic environment to encourage cell attachment and healing. This combination allows for a modulus of elasticity similar to cancellous bone, reducing stress shielding, while the material's radiolucency permits clear radiographic assessment of fusion progress. The company designs and builds its own patented 3D printers, giving it full control over the manufacturing process from start to finish.
Curiteva has achieved significant regulatory milestones, including multiple FDA 510(k) clearances for its Inspire systems, such as the Cervical Interbody Fusion System in February 2023 and the Lumbar Interbody Fusion System in January 2024. More recently, in June 2025, it secured clearance for the Inspire Trabecular PEEK Standalone ALIF system, the first 3D printed PEEK standalone implant. The company's portfolio is extensive, covering cervical, thoracolumbar, and sacroiliac solutions with implants available in 3D Printed Trabecular PEEK, solid PEEK, and titanium, alongside various biologics and fixation systems.
