About CSG Systems International

CSG Systems International, Inc. is a provider of business support systems (BSS) software and services, primarily for the telecommunications industry, but also serving financial services, healthcare, retail, and government sectors. The company offers a suite of solutions focused on revenue management, digital monetization, customer engagement, and payment processing. Its business model is centered on long-term B2B relationships with major service providers, generating revenue through software licensing, managed services, and recurring SaaS and transaction-based fees. As of 2020, its largest clients, Comcast and Charter, accounted for 23% and 20% of its revenues, respectively.

The company's history began in 1982 when Neal Hansen founded Cable Services Group as a division of First Data Corporation, which was then operated by American Express. The initial focus was on providing billing outsourcing services for the U.S. cable television industry. A year after its founding, Hansen left to become CEO of Applied Communications, Inc., where he met George Haddix. In 1994, Hansen and Haddix, with backing from Morgan Stanley and Trident Investment Group, led a management buyout, acquiring Cable Services Group for $137 million and renaming it CSG Systems International, Inc. The company went public in 1996.

CSG's core offerings are delivered through a cloud-first architecture. Key products include the CSG Xponent, Ascendon, and Forte platforms. These platforms provide capabilities for converged billing, customer lifecycle management, and payment processing. The company's solutions help clients manage complex customer interactions, streamline billing, and launch new digital services. CSG also offers solutions for field force automation, analytics, customer journey orchestration, and fraud detection. Its services include printing and mailing billing statements, managing call centers, and providing professional services for implementation and maintenance. The company has expanded its offerings through strategic acquisitions, including Kitewheel for customer journey analytics and iCG Pay for payment processing.
