CryptoKitties is a blockchain-based game developed by Canadian studio Dapper Labs that allows players to purchase, collect, breed and sell virtual cats. The founding team of CryptoKitties includes Roham Gharegozlou, the CEO of Dapper Labs, who has a background in venture capital; Mack Flavelle, the CEO of Big Head Club; and Dieter Shirley, the CTO of Dapper Labs, who is also the author of the ERC-721 standard for non-fungible tokens on the Ethereum blockchain.

The game is built on the Ethereum blockchain and uses the ERC-721 token standard to create unique and collectible digital assets. Each CryptoKitty is a non-fungible token (NFT), meaning that it is a one-of-a-kind digital asset that cannot be replicated. This makes each CryptoKitty a unique and valuable collectible. Players can buy, sell, and trade their CryptoKitties on the game's marketplace. The price of a CryptoKitty is determined by its rarity and its attributes, which are called "Cattributes".

The business model of CryptoKitties is based on the sale of new CryptoKitties and a fee on every transaction that occurs on the marketplace. The company releases a new "Gen 0" CryptoKitty every 15 minutes, which are sold to the highest bidder. The company also takes a 3.75% fee on every transaction that occurs on the marketplace, including the sale of CryptoKitties between players and the siring of new CryptoKitties.

CryptoKitties was one of the first and most successful blockchain games, and it helped to popularize the concept of NFTs. The game has been praised for its engaging gameplay and its use of blockchain technology to create a new type of digital collectible.
