About Credi2

Credi2 is a European financial technology company specializing in white-label “Buy Now, Pay Later” (BNPL) and embedded lending solutions for banks, issuers, and merchants. Founded in 2015 by Daniel Strieder (CEO), Michael Handler (CTO), and Jörg Skornschek (COO), the Vienna-based firm enables financial institutions and retailers to offer their own branded sales financing products. The founding team, friends for nearly 15 years, established the company with a vision to create modern, embedded finance solutions. Christian Waldheim later joined the management team as Co-CEO.

The company operates a BNPL-as-a-Service platform that allows clients to bypass complex IT integration and quickly launch end-to-end digital financing products. This platform provides modular core banking features, including account management, risk and scoring operations, payment processing, and reporting. Credi2's business model is B2B, providing the technology and operational backbone for its clients to enter the BNPL market under their own brand, thus retaining control over the customer relationship. The platform is designed for easy integration via APIs and plug-ins, with Credi2 managing IT operations, processes, and customer support if needed. Its product offerings include split pay, invoice purchasing, installment loans, revolving credit, and subscription models.

Since its inception, Credi2 has achieved several milestones. In 2016, it launched 'cashpresso', a digital lending product. The company has secured funding from investors including Reimann Investors, Speedinvest, and Volkswagen Financial Services. Key partnerships have been established with major institutions like Deutsche Bank, Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI), Volkswagen Bank, Visa, and Apple. Notable projects include the launch of an Apple subscription model with merchants like Cyberport in 2020, RBI's takeover of cashpresso for expansion into Central and Eastern Europe in 2021, and the development of a BNPL solution with Deutsche Bank in 2022. In 2023, Credi2 entered a strategic cooperation with Visa to develop a joint BNPL product for card-issuing financial institutions in Central Europe. The company has also received ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 certifications for information security and data protection.
