About CoreStreet

Founded in 2001 and headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, CoreStreet established itself as a specialized provider of identity credential validation solutions. The company operated within the network management software and cybersecurity sectors, focusing on both government and corporate clients worldwide. CoreStreet's business model revolved around selling software and hardware for identity management and access control, enabling organizations to authorize and verify credentials for physical and logical access to critical assets.

The company's offerings were centered on Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) certificate validation technology, which was deployed by organizations to secure IT applications, including digitally signed emails and forms. CoreStreet provided a suite of products designed to address the convergence of physical and digital security. Key products included the CoreStreet Validation suite for large-scale certificate validation, and the PIVMAN suite, which utilized handheld devices for mobile identity verification of government-issued smart cards, passports, or driver's licenses. This technology was instrumental for clients needing to control access to secure sites by quickly authenticating the roles and identities of individuals.

A significant milestone in CoreStreet's history was its acquisition by ActivIdentity in December 2009 for approximately $20 million. At the time of the acquisition, CoreStreet was generating around $7 million in annual revenue. The deal was a strategic move for ActivIdentity to strengthen its portfolio in authentication and credential management, particularly within the U.S. government sector where CoreStreet had a strong foothold. Prior to the acquisition, the two companies already had a partnership for credential management solutions. Following this, ActivIdentity itself was acquired by HID Global, a subsidiary of ASSA ABLOY, in late 2010, further integrating CoreStreet's technology into a broader secure identity ecosystem.
