Companion.energy is a Ghent-based enterprise energy software company founded in 2022 by Thomas Vyncke and Jonas Verstraeten that turns energy contracts, live operational data and distributed assets into a real-time optimisation and execution platform for large industrial and commercial energy users. The system forecasts demand and market exposure, then automatically shifts consumption and asset dispatch toward cheaper or greener periods—covering solar, wind, batteries and EV charging—rather than only recommending actions via dashboards. Clients include TotalEnergies, KPN, the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, Interparking and Proximus; the company reports managing over 2 TWh of annual energy use (about €500 million in combined spend and revenue) and more than 200 MW of distributed assets, with ARR above €1 million after tenfold growth from its May 2024 raise. In June 2026 Companion.energy closed a €7.8 million seed led by Realyze Ventures and Pi Labs, with Asterion Ventures and existing investors, bringing total funding to about €10 million to deepen multi-asset optimisation and expand into Germany and Spain.
