In 1984, Lim Keng Hock founded Comintel, a company that would establish itself in the ICT and radio frequency communication systems sector in Malaysia. From its base in Shah Alam, the company navigated the evolving landscape of technology and communications. The company's trajectory took a significant turn in March 2024 when Comintel Corporation Bhd officially changed its name to Binastra Corporation Berhad. This renaming signaled a major shift in the company's focus. Following the name change, Binastra Corporation began concentrating on construction, particularly high-rise residential and commercial buildings. This new direction was further solidified with the appointment of Datuk Tan Kak Seng as the new Managing Director, who began to steer the company towards its new primary business in construction services.
