About Command Information

Command Information was an information technology services provider specializing in the migration to and management of next-generation internet networks, with a particular focus on Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6).

The company's history is marked by its strategic focus on the U.S. federal government's push toward network-centric computing. By 2006, Command Information had established a dedicated federal division, Command Federal, to capitalize on the government-wide mandate to transition to IPv6 by 2008. This expansion was backed by significant investment from private equity firms, including Paladin Capital Group, The Carlyle Group, and Novak Biddle Venture Partners. In 2009, Salient Federal Solutions was founded by former SI International executives including Brad Antle. Tracing its roots back nearly two decades earlier, Command Information was acquired by Salient Federal Solutions in March 2011. This acquisition was a strategic move for Salient to deepen its software development and cybersecurity capabilities, leveraging Command Information's expertise in IPv6 and its prime position on the ENCORE II contract vehicle.

Command Information provided a suite of services including technology consulting, engineering, and enterprise solutions for government and commercial clients. A key offering was its 'Assure6' product, an enterprise-wide IPv6 policy management product focused on intrusion detection and prevention. The business model centered on providing the necessary tools, training, and services to help large organizations and government agencies transition their networks to the new internet protocol, enhancing security and functionality. The company served major clients within the U.S. government, notably gaining a significant presence at the United States Transportation Command, where it provided continuous worldwide tracking of in-transit cargo.

Following its acquisition, the capabilities of Command Information were integrated into Salient Federal Solutions. Salient later merged with CRGT in 2015 to form Salient CRGT, which was subsequently acquired by GovernmentCIO (now GovCIO) in 2021, continuing the legacy of its integrated technology services for the federal market.
