CloudShield Technologies
Ip service control and infrastructure protection solutions on network and content processing platforms
About CloudShield Technologies
CloudShield Technologies, founded in 2000, specialized in providing IP services control and infrastructure protection solutions. The company developed packet-processing systems for its primary clients, which included service providers and national governments worldwide. CloudShield's business model revolved around delivering a comprehensive platform that enabled customers to inspect, analyze, and control all network traffic. This capability was designed to help clients reduce operational costs, secure their network infrastructure, and create new revenue opportunities.
The core of CloudShield's offering was its deep packet inspection (DPI) platform and a suite of applications. This technology provided granular policy and bandwidth management, which was crucial for managing complex converged networks. A key product was the CS-2000, a packet processing applications server that featured a multi-gigabit packet computer. The platform was recognized for its open architecture, allowing customers to host a range of applications from network security solutions to general-purpose IT applications, facilitating a dynamic defense strategy. This open approach allowed for greater flexibility in monitoring and reacting to network traffic to combat cyber threats.
In February 2010, CloudShield Technologies was acquired by Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), a major scientific, engineering, and technology applications company. At the time of the acquisition, CloudShield's team of 115 employees was integrated into SAIC's Intelligence and Information Solutions Business Unit. The acquisition was a strategic move for SAIC to enhance its cybersecurity offerings and introduce high-speed network DPI solutions to meet the demands of U.S. federal government and commercial markets. Subsequently, in February 2015, CloudShield was acquired from Leidos (formerly SAIC) by Lookingglass Cyber Solutions, a threat intelligence firm. This later acquisition allowed Lookingglass to integrate CloudShield's deep packet processing technology to shorten the time required to address detected threats.
