About CHOCO TV

CHOCO TV was a Taiwanese mobile video streaming platform launched by CHOCOLABS (CHOCO Media Co., Ltd.) in 2015. The parent company, CHOCOLABS, was founded in 2011 by David Liu and initially focused on developing mobile applications before transitioning into the video entertainment sector in 2014. CHOCO TV provided licensed content from various East Asian countries, including Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, and China.

Beginning in 2016, the company shifted its strategy to include the production of original content, focusing on genres like romance, horror, and detective stories that were often underserved by traditional broadcasters. This move was highlighted by their production of several popular drama series. The platform's business model was based on program production and copyright trading, similar to traditional broadcasting companies but without regional limitations.

In 2018, the Japanese subsidiary of South Korea's Naver Group, LINE Corporation, invested in CHOCO Media through its Mirai Fund, becoming the majority shareholder. Following this investment, on November 20, 2018, CHOCO TV terminated its services and all its content and user memberships were merged into LINE TV.
