About CeNeS
In 2013, founder Dan Bladen started a company called Chargifi with a straightforward mission: to do for power what Wi-Fi did for internet connectivity. The business was built around a network of wireless charging spots in public venues, allowing users to power their devices on the go. For seven years, the company grew by embedding its technology in offices, hotels, and stadiums. Then, in early 2020, the world changed. The global pandemic brought in-person interaction to a halt, and the demand for public charging stations evaporated almost overnight. Faced with a market that had fundamentally disappeared, Bladen and his team made a critical decision. They realized the software they had built to manage their network of chargers was, at its core, a tool for managing spaces and user check-ins. This technology could be repurposed for a new, urgent problem. This realization marked the company's pivot to a new identity: Kadence. The focus shifted from powering devices to coordinating people. Kadence became an operating system for the new reality of hybrid work, helping companies manage who was in the office, when, and for what purpose. The platform provided tools for desk booking, room scheduling, and analytics to help teams coordinate their in-office days for collaboration. The move proved to be the right one. As businesses grappled with return-to-office strategies, Kadence's solution found a strong product-market fit. This was validated by a $10 million seed funding round in late 2022, followed by a larger $20 million Series A round announced in July 2025, to fuel its expansion and product development.
