In 1995, long before the boom of SaaS, founders Michael Hung and Timothy Chiu started CBX Software with a clear focus on the retail, trade, and logistics industry. They began by developing custom software, and after years of building similar solutions for different clients, they identified a consistent pattern. This realization was the catalyst for creating a standardized web platform, consolidating their expertise into what would become a comprehensive sourcing management tool. The company’s core product, now known as the CBX Cloud, is a platform that streamlines the complex journey of bringing products to market. It connects retailers, brands, and suppliers, managing everything from initial product development and sourcing to orders, production, and delivery. This digital workflow replaces disconnected systems, providing a single source of truth for the thousands of partners involved in the global supply chain. For nearly three decades, the company grew organically without external funding. A significant turning point occurred in May 2022, when CBX Software announced its first institutional investment: a $10 million Series A round from Baring Private Equity Asia (BPEA). This strategic partnership was designed to accelerate global expansion, product development, and potential acquisitions. Later that year, the company embraced a new identity, rebranding from CBX Software to TradeBeyond. The change reflected its mission to build the supply chain of the future, empowering businesses to manage their operations more responsibly and sustainably. Today, TradeBeyond serves over 15,000 partners in more than 50 countries, continuing to operate as a critical, behind-the-scenes engine for some of the world's largest retailers.
