Cascade Technologies Ltd. was a specialized manufacturer of gas analyzers and monitoring systems, founded in 2003 by Richard Cooper and based in Stirling, Scotland. The firm carved a niche in the market with its development and application of Quantum Cascade Laser (QCL) technology. This core technology enabled the simultaneous and real-time measurement of multiple gases, such as CO2, CO, and NH3, with high precision, down to parts-per-billion levels. A key technical differentiator was its patented method of pulsing the lasers, a frequency chirp technique, which allowed for highly sensitive and rapid analysis in extreme industrial environments.

The company's products served a range of industrial sectors including petrochemical, pharmaceutical, power generation, and automotive. These systems were primarily utilized for monitoring industrial emissions, optimizing production processes, and ensuring regulatory compliance. In a significant milestone, Cascade Technologies was acquired by Emerson in a deal announced in late December 2014 and early January 2015. At the time of the sale, Dr. Iain Howieson was the CEO. The acquisition integrated Cascade's QCL systems into Emerson's Rosemount Analytical gas analysis portfolio, expanding Emerson's capabilities in the industrial measurement and analytical market.
