Cambrian is an AI infrastructure protocol that processes on-chain and off-chain data to create accessible financial intelligence. The company's platform provides developers with verifiable, low-latency data to build and train autonomous AI agents for financial applications. Cambrian's goal is to empower these agents to make smarter, real-time decisions by providing a comprehensive sensory layer that includes cross-chain DeFi metrics, wallet activity, market pricing, social sentiment, and news analysis.

Founded by CEO Sam Green, who has a Ph.D. in Reinforcement Learning and extensive experience in blockchain data and cryptography from his time at The Graph ecosystem and as co-founder of Semiotic Labs, Cambrian was established to address the data needs of an emerging "agentic finance" landscape. The founding team's background is deeply rooted in The Graph ecosystem, utilizing its Firehose technology as a core part of Cambrian's tech stack. In early 2025, the San Francisco-based company secured $5.9 million in a seed funding round led by a16z's Crypto Startup Accelerator (CSX), with participation from Blockchain Builders and other angel investors.

The platform serves developers of AI agents, particularly those focused on decentralized finance (DeFi). Use cases include automated liquidity provisioning, risk-adjusted portfolio rebalancing, and alpha-generating agents. Cambrian makes money by providing its indexed and structured data through easy-to-use APIs. One of the first applications built on the platform is Deep42, an AI agent that delivers DeFi insights, showcasing the network's capabilities. The company has established partnerships with key players in the agentic finance space, including EigenLayer, Eliza Labs, Virtuals, Theoriq, and Morpheus.
