Cado Security
Cloud-native forensics and incident response automation platform
About Cado Security
Cado Security provides a cloud forensics and incident response platform designed to automate data capture and processing for security teams. Founded in April 2020 by James Campbell and Chris Doman, the company is headquartered in London, with offices in the UK and the US. In January 2025, it was announced that Cado Security was to be acquired by Darktrace, a deal expected to be finalized in February 2025.
The founders possess significant experience in cybersecurity. James Campbell, the CEO, previously led Australia's National Incident Response capability at the Australian Signals Directorate and directed PwC's Cyber Incident Response service. CTO Chris Doman is known for creating the threat intelligence portal ThreatCrowd, which was later acquired by AT&T, and has published research on state-sponsored cyber-attacks.
The Cado platform is engineered to investigate security incidents across hybrid and multi-cloud environments, including AWS, Azure, and GCP, as well as container, serverless, SaaS, and on-premises systems. It automates the collection of forensic data, processing it in parallel to accelerate investigations from days to minutes. The platform presents data from various sources like logs, disk, and memory into a single timeline, using analytics and threat intelligence to highlight malicious activity. This enables security teams to quickly determine the root cause, scope, and impact of an incident. The business model targets organizations of all sizes, from small businesses to large enterprises, seeking to secure their cloud environments. Revenue is generated through its platform, which is available on the AWS and Microsoft Azure marketplaces.
Since its inception, Cado Security has raised a total of $31.5 million over three funding rounds. This includes a $1.5 million seed round in November 2020, a $10 million Series A in April 2021, and a $20 million Series B in March 2023, with investors including Eurazeo, Ten Eleven Ventures, and Blossom Capital.
