Branch Energy is a Houston distributed-energy company co-founded by Alex Ince-Cushman (CEO) that deploys Arc, a containerized “grid-in-a-box” behind-the-meter battery system sized for a single parking space—integrating industrial storage, interconnection hardware, thermal cooling and cloud autonomous controls, delivered by flatbed and installable in about two days. Under a fully managed model Branch funds, permits, installs, insures and maintains the system; in Texas it also acts as the host’s retail electricity provider, optimising charge/discharge for bill savings and backup while operating the fleet as a virtual power plant into wholesale markets or capacity contracts for hyperscalers seeking power faster than multi-year interconnection queues. In September 2026 Branch raised $33 million Series B co-led by Piva Capital and Clean Energy Ventures, with Active Impact Investments, Whitecap Venture Partners, Prelude Ventures, Zero Infinity Partners and Inovia Capital, to expand from ERCOT Texas into Illinois/PJM commercial buildings.
