BrainCo is a neurotechnology company that develops brain-computer interface (BCI) products. Founded in 2015 by Bicheng Han while he was a PhD student at Harvard University's Center for Brain Science, the company was incubated in the Harvard Innovation Lab. Han, who has a background in medical equipment development and neuroscience research, also founded BrainRobotics, a semi-nonprofit project under BrainCo dedicated to creating smart prosthetics.

The company's headquarters moved from Somerville, Massachusetts, to Hangzhou, China in 2018, while maintaining an office in the US. BrainCo develops non-invasive BCI technology that translates brain signals (EEG) and muscle signals into commands to control external devices. Its business operates across several fields, including medical devices, wellness, and education.

One of its primary product lines is advanced prosthetic limbs. The BrainRobotics hand, which received FDA certification in 2022, uses AI algorithms to decode muscle signals, allowing users to control individual fingers and perform complex tasks like writing or playing the piano. This product was named one of Time Magazine's top 100 inventions of 2019. The company aims to offer these high-functioning prosthetics at a lower price point than many alternatives on the market.

BrainCo also produces EEG headbands for various applications. Its initial product, the Focus 1 headband, was designed to monitor students' attention levels in classrooms. This product line has since been rebranded and expanded into the wellness sector with devices like FocusCalm, which uses neurofeedback games and exercises to help users reduce stress and improve focus. Other products include Eassleep, a headband for sleep improvement, and OxyZen, which monitors vital signs and brain waves to provide tailored meditation.

The company has raised funds from investors including Hantan Capital, Boston Angel Club, and China Electronics Corporation.
