Bluecore Energy
Floating small modular reactors for ports and coastal clean power
About Bluecore Energy
Bluecore Energy is a Port of Long Beach–headquartered nuclear startup founded in 2026 by Kofi Asante that builds small modular reactors on floating barges so clean power can be moved to ports, nearby infrastructure, AI data centres and communities without years of fixed-site construction. The company emerged from stealth with partnerships involving the U.S. Department of Transportation Maritime Division, NRC and Coast Guard, launched prototype barges, and is in formal NRC and Coast Guard design engagement aimed at certification of its floating nuclear plant; fuel procurement and national-lab partnerships are planned as development continues. After a $10 million pre-seed (investors including Slauson & Co., Harlem Capital and Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen), Bluecore closed an oversubscribed $50 million seed in September 2026 led by Silverton Partners in about eight weeks, with returning pre-seed backers and new capital from Collab Capital, Kevin Hart’s HartBeat Ventures and angels from Tesla, Uber, Amazon and Google, to fund product development, regulatory work, nuclear fuel purchases and hiring.
