About Bioo

Bioo is a Brazilian biosolutions platform created from a partnership between Sebigas Cótica and eB Capital (now Flying Rivers Capital), an alternative investment manager. The company focuses on transforming agro-industrial organic waste into valuable bioproducts within a circular economy framework. The CEO of Bioo is Maurício Cótica, who also serves as the executive director of Sebigas Cótica.

The company's core business involves processing over 40 types of organic waste from agro-industrial sources through anaerobic digestion to produce renewable natural gas (biomethane), food-grade biogenic carbon dioxide, and organic fertilizer. This model provides a sustainable waste management solution for industrial clients, helping them meet decarbonization and zero-landfill goals while reducing waste disposal costs. Bioo's business model captures value by selling these bioproducts; for instance, biomethane can be injected into gas pipelines or sold to industrial consumers, while food-grade CO2 is used in industries like beverage carbonation. The company also generates carbon credits.

The initiative for Bioo was part of eB Capital's energy transition investment thesis. A total of R$ 600 million was announced for the platform, with the first plant constructed in Triunfo, Rio Grande do Sul, strategically located near a major petrochemical complex. This first plant, which began operations in the second half of 2025, has a long-term contract to supply biomethane to the local gas distributor, Sulgás. In November 2025, the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES), through its equity arm BNDESPar, approved an R$ 85.8 million investment in Bioo, acquiring a 19.9% stake. This capital, along with an additional investment from Flying Rivers Capital, is intended to fund the development of two new integrated waste treatment plants in other regions of Brazil.
