About BIO-UV Group
BIO-UV Group, founded in May 2000 by Benoît Gillmann, is a French public company specializing in water and surface treatment systems. Mr. Gillmann, leveraging his extensive background in the medical, water treatment, and engineering sectors, established the company to develop an automatic, chlorine-free residential pool water treatment concept using UV-C technology. His career, which began in 1975, included roles at BAXTER/TRAVENOL France, BASF subsidiary BIOSEDRA, and SCA/Mölnlycke France, providing him with a solid foundation in sales, marketing, and international development before he created BIO-UV. In March 2023, after over two decades of leading the company's growth, Mr. Gillmann stepped down, and Laurent-Emmanuel Migeon, who had been co-managing the company for five years, was appointed as the new Chairman and CEO.
The company designs, manufactures, and markets systems for water disinfection and treatment utilizing ultraviolet light (UV-C), ozone, salt electrolysis, and advanced oxidation processes (AOP). Its business model revolves around the sale of these products and associated services across various markets. Revenue is generated through three main divisions: Product Sales, Solution Sales, and Services & Aftermarket. BIO-UV Group went public on the Euronext Growth market in Paris in 2018, which facilitated further expansion. The company has pursued a strategy of both organic growth and strategic acquisitions, including the purchase of UK-based triogen® in 2019 to add ozone and AOP technologies, and French salt electrolysis leader Corelec (Akeron) in 2021. This strategy has expanded its technological portfolio and global reach, with over 50% of its €39.6 million in 2024 revenue generated from exports to over 70 countries.
BIO-UV Group serves a diverse client base that includes residential pool and spa owners, commercial pools, water parks, public aquariums, and aquaculture farms. The company also provides solutions for municipalities and industries, covering drinking water purification, wastewater treatment, industrial process water, and reuse water. A significant market is the maritime sector, where its BIO-SEA® systems are used for treating ships' ballast water to prevent the transport of invasive species, and for purifying onboard swimming pool and potable water. Its products are engineered to eliminate harmful microorganisms like bacteria, viruses, and chlorine-resistant parasites such as Cryptosporidium, without the extensive use of chemicals. For instance, the triogen® AOP Clear system combines UV and ozone for a triple-action treatment in commercial pools, effectively removing contaminants that other methods cannot.
