About Bigfoot Interactive

Bigfoot Interactive was a direct e-marketing services company founded in 1997 by Lenny Barshack and James Hoffman. It originated from Bigfoot.com, a free email provider and web directory that launched in 1995. The company specialized in strengthening and maximizing online customer relationships through permission-based, ROI-focused email communications and marketing automation. Bigfoot Interactive provided clients with tools for creating, managing, and delivering integrated email marketing applications, including streaming media, customized promotions, and data integration for personalized messaging.

The firm served a prominent client base that included brands like Eddie Bauer, IBM, The Washington Post/Newsweek Interactive, JPMorgan Chase & Co., Capital One, Discover Financial Services, Amazon Services, Target, and Expedia. In 2001, Bigfoot Interactive merged with e-mail services provider Expression Engines, continuing under the Bigfoot Interactive name with Al DiGuido as CEO and co-founder Jim Hoffman as CSO. The company's trajectory culminated in its acquisition by Epsilon, a subsidiary of Alliance Data Systems, in September 2005 for approximately $120 million. Following the acquisition, Bigfoot Interactive was renamed Epsilon Interactive and served as Epsilon's primary offering in the interactive marketing space.
