BeyondMinds
A consulting company which provides state-of-the-art Machine Learning and Deep Learning solutions
About BeyondMinds
BeyondMinds was an artificial intelligence startup founded in Tel Aviv, Israel, at the end of 2018 by Rotem Alaluf, Or Kremer, and Roey Mechrez. The company established itself with the mission to solve the high failure rate of AI projects in production environments. Founder and CEO Rotem Alaluf brought experience from the defense technology industry, where he worked on complex problems in fields like natural language processing and time-series analysis. His background in electrical engineering and physics from Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, coupled with his work as a Deep Learning & NLP Leader, shaped the company's direction. The founding team also included deep learning specialist Roey Mechrez, who had prior experience at IBM and Technion University, and Or Kremer, who had a background in business development at online video platforms.

The firm operated without external funding in its first year before securing a seed round in 2019 from veteran entrepreneurs. A significant milestone was the $15 million Series A funding round in November 2020, co-led by Grove Ventures. This capital was intended to fuel global expansion, with offices planned and established in New York, London, and Bangalore, in addition to its Tel Aviv headquarters. However, despite its initial traction and client acquisitions, BeyondMinds ultimately shut down in May 2022, laying off its 65 employees after failing to secure a buyer amid a downturn in the tech market. The closure followed a disagreement between CEO Rotem Alaluf and the board regarding the company's future, leading to Alaluf's departure in September 2021 to found a new startup, Wand.ai.
BeyondMinds developed an enterprise AI platform designed to be universally applicable and easily adaptable, offering "AI as a Service". The business model focused on providing hyper-customized, production-ready AI systems to large enterprises, aiming to help them overcome common hurdles in AI adoption and achieve a return on investment. The company targeted Global 1000 firms, including prominent names like Microsoft, Samsung, and KPMG, as well as clients in the defense and financial sectors. Its platform addressed a variety of use cases, such as fraud detection, insurance claims automation, risk assessment, predictive maintenance, and defect detection in manufacturing. The core of its product was a modular technology stack that atomized AI development into building blocks, allowing for the rapid creation of custom solutions. This architecture was designed to handle dynamic and noisy real-world data, a common point of failure for AI projects. A key offering was the "AI Production Guarantee," which promised the deployment of a customer's first production AI system within ten weeks on their preferred cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
