Established in 1997, BELLA Bulgaria has strategically positioned itself as a dominant force in the food production sector of Southeast Europe. The company embarked on its journey by introducing puff pastry to the Bulgarian market for the first time, a move that set the stage for its subsequent expansion. This initial success was followed by a calculated diversification into filo pastries and prepared pies, laying a broad foundation in the bakery segment.

By the early 2000s, BELLA had expanded its portfolio to include fats and margarines, while simultaneously building a formidable distribution network across Bulgaria, servicing 12,000 points of sale daily. The period between 2006 and 2009 marked a significant international push, with the company entering European markets and establishing a commercial subsidiary in Romania, Unibel Nord. This era also saw its entry into the meat processing industry, developing a full range of meat products. A key milestone was the creation of the largest logistics base in the Balkans, cementing its capabilities in storage and distribution for both domestic and international operations. The company serves a diverse client base, from major retail chains like Kaufland, Lidl, and Tesco to the HoReCa (Hotel, Restaurant, Café) sector and end-consumers. Revenue is generated through the sale of its wide product portfolio under its own brands (such as BELLA, Sachi, Familia, and Perelik) and through private label partnerships with major European retailers.

BELLA's product ecosystem is extensive, encompassing chilled and frozen pastries like filo and puff pastry, a variety of meat products including sausages and delicacies, margarines, oils, and dairy products like white and yellow cheeses. The company operates nine factories with a daily production capacity of 350 tons and manages its complex logistics through Fresh Logic, which runs a major logistics center with extensive chilled and frozen warehousing. This infrastructure supports its export operations to over 50 countries, including those in Europe, America, Australia, and the Middle East. Recent strategic moves include the acquisition of Greek company Creta Farm in 2019 and a significant investment program to automate production lines and expand warehousing. In 2024, the company saw a 55% surge in bake-off filo pastry pie sales after opening a new, dedicated manufacturing facility, significantly increasing its production capacity.
