BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) is a global medical technology company. Founded in 1897, it develops, manufactures and sells medical devices, laboratory equipment and related products and services for hospitals, health systems, laboratories, clinicians and biopharmaceutical partners. BD operates through four segments: Medical Essentials, Connected Care, BioPharma Systems and Interventional. Medical Essentials produces medication delivery and specimen management devices; Connected Care builds medication management and advanced patient monitoring systems; BioPharma Systems supplies drug delivery systems and devices to pharmaceutical partners; and Interventional develops surgical, endovascular, urological and critical care products. BD sells both medical devices and connected software and analytics to healthcare providers worldwide, and supports its products with clinical education, customer portals and service programs.
