Baselayer (legally Osiris Ratings Inc.) is a San Francisco and New York business-identity and risk company that helps banks, fintechs and other financial institutions verify businesses, underwrite risk and detect fraud. Co-founded in February 2023 by CEO Jonathan Awad and Timothy Hyde, Baselayer sells Know Your Business identity, credit and fraud tools directly and through reseller partners; more than 2,000 financial institutions — over 20% of such institutions in the U.S., including about one in five U.S. banks — use the platform, and the company says it has helped customers prevent more than $1 billion in fraud losses while reviewing tens of millions of applications. Alongside that KYB network, Baselayer in September 2026 launched an Agentic Identity Suite / Know Your Agent layer so AI agents can present credentials that tie actions to the deploying platform and authorizing business, with an MCP server and Agentic Search grounding models in verified registry data. In September 2026 Baselayer raised a $35 million Series A led by M13, with Picus Capital, Torch Capital, Afore Capital and Matt Thompson of Socure, bringing total funding to about $40 million to scale identity infrastructure for agentic commerce.
