Basecamp Research is a London biotechnology company founded in 2019 by Dr Glen Gowers and Dr Oliver Vince that trains foundational biological AI models on proprietary genomic data collected through partnerships in more than 30 countries. Its knowledge graph and BaseData protein corpus underpin the Eden model family for protein and DNA sequence design, including BaseFold structure prediction and aiPGI for programmable gene insertion, with a therapeutic focus on in vivo cell therapy that aims to reprogram patient cells inside the body. The company collaborates with pharmaceutical, research and industrial partners and cites preclinical progress across multiple disease areas. Funding includes a $20 million Series A (2022) and $60 million Series B (2024); in September 2026 Basecamp closed a $140 million Series C led by S32, with NVentures (NVIDIA), Anthropic’s Anthology Fund, Catalio, the NATO Innovation Fund, Rockefeller, European Tech Collective, the UK Sovereign AI Fund and returning investors Firebrand, River Capital King Philanthropies and Redalpine — bringing total funding to about $225 million to train next-generation models and advance AI-designed therapeutics toward the clinic.
