BaCta
AI-powered bioproduction of industrial ingredients via programmable microbes
About BaCta
BaCta is a Paris industrial BioTech company founded in 2024 by Mathieu Nohet (CEO) and Marie Rouquette that uses AI, synthetic biology and precision fermentation to turn microorganisms into programmable molecular factories for industrial ingredients. Its first product is natural-quality astaxanthin produced with a proprietary yeast strain as a drop-in alternative to petrochemical or microalgae routes, with the baCtaForge platform combining a Precision Biofoundry and Genome-to-Factory AI model to cut strain-engineering timelines. After a €3.3 million pre-Seed led by OVNI Capital in October 2024, BaCta raised a €7 million Seed round in March 2026 led by LocalGlobe and Daphni, with OVNI Capital and angels including founders of Phagos, Genomines and Mistral AI, to scale astaxanthin to pilot and commercial production and accelerate baCtaForge.
