Founded in 1994, Axceler was a software company that specialized in administration, governance, and migration software for Microsoft SharePoint and Lotus Notes. The firm was headquartered in Woburn, Massachusetts, and catered to over 2,000 customers globally before its acquisition.

Axceler's core business revolved around providing tools to enhance the management and security of collaborative platforms. Its flagship product, ControlPoint for SharePoint Administration, was an award-winning governance and administration solution that enabled organizations to enforce policies, manage permissions, and analyze activity within their SharePoint environments, whether on-premises, in the cloud, or in a hybrid setup. This addressed a critical market need, as many organizations struggled with controlling "SharePoint sprawl"—the uncontrolled proliferation of sites lacking standardized governance. In addition to administration, Axceler offered migration tools like ControlPoint for SharePoint Migration and ControlPoint FileLoader, which facilitated the movement of data from file shares or older SharePoint versions. Recognizing the shift towards social enterprise tools, Axceler also developed ViewPoint, a governance tool for platforms like Yammer.

In August 2013, the SharePoint-focused portion of Axceler's business, including the brand and its key products, was acquired by Metalogix Software. This strategic acquisition allowed Metalogix to integrate Axceler's respected governance and permissions management tools into its own suite of SharePoint migration and management products, creating a more comprehensive offering for their combined customer base of over 13,000. The non-SharePoint assets of Axceler, primarily its Lotus Notes management suite and the ViewPoint tool, were spun off into a new company.
