The founders' journey began in the Jaguar Land Rover technology incubator in Portland, Oregon, with an initial investment from the automotive giant. Initially exploring the broader mobility landscape, they identified a significant, untapped market in microtransit—a space between public buses and ride-hailing services. This led to a pivot and a strategic relocation to Columbus, Ohio, to build the company. A key milestone was securing a $12 million Series A funding round in June 2022, which has fueled national expansion. From a modest 270 rides in early 2018, the company's operations grew to 20,000 monthly rides just a year later.

SHARE Mobility's business model is centered on its proprietary Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) software platform. This platform provides a comprehensive solution for organizations to manage transportation logistics, particularly for getting employees to work in areas underserved by public transit. The company serves clients in sectors like manufacturing and logistics, which often have large numbers of hourly workers facing transportation barriers. Its technology suite includes tools for real-time vehicle tracking, optimized routing using AI, dispatching, and reporting.
