The firm was founded by Xin Xin, a graduate of Northwestern University's computer science program who previously worked at Microsoft and Amazon, contributing to projects like Windows and the Amazon smart speaker. The team comprises talent from renowned universities and companies such as Zhejiang University, Nanjing University, Cisco, and Huawei.

AuditoryWorks operates primarily through its brand, "Hamedal" (耳目达), which was launched in 2020. The company provides a comprehensive range of hardware for various meeting room sizes, from small spaces for 2-6 people to large conference rooms for over 40 participants. The product lineup includes conference microphones, cameras, all-in-one conference devices, and smart whiteboards. These products are built on proprietary technologies, including full-duplex acoustics, noise suppression, and speaker tracking. A significant portion of the company's efforts, involving over 40% of its team, is dedicated to research and development. The business model centers on the manufacturing and sale of this hardware, serving a client base that includes prominent companies like Bytedance, Didi, and Xiaohongshu.

The company has demonstrated substantial growth and attracted significant investment. After its establishment, it secured Angel funding in October 2018. This was followed by a Series A round of nearly 100 million RMB in January 2021 from investors including GGV Capital and Z鼎 Capital. A Series B funding round in July 2022 raised hundreds of millions of RMB, led by GP Capital, with continued participation from existing shareholders. Most recently, a Series C round in August 2023 brought in further investment from the founder of a listed company and Hao辰 Capital. Under its parent company name, AuditoryWorks also operates the brand NEARITY, which focuses on developing overseas markets and is expanding from an AI-powered hardware manufacturer to an integrated service provider with both software (like the upcoming NearHub SaaS) and hardware solutions.
