Attune Technologies
Develops advanced software for the healthcare industry
About Attune Technologies
Founded in 2008 by Arvindkumar Alagarswamy, Gnanaraj Anand, Mohanaraj Paramagurusamy, and Ramakrishnan V, Attune Technologies established itself as a healthcare IT company with headquarters in Singapore. The company specialized in cloud-based platforms for the healthcare sector. The founding team combined expertise in medicine, technology, and business to address challenges within healthcare information management. Arvindkumar Alagarswamy, an engineering graduate from Madras University with a management diploma from IIM-Calcutta, served as the CEO. The company's initial journey involved overcoming funding challenges, securing angel investment from Singapore-based HNIs which necessitated moving its headquarters from Chennai to Singapore, although product development remained in India.
Attune Technologies provided a suite of cloud-based software solutions designed to automate and integrate operations for healthcare providers. Its product line included a Hospital Information System (HIS), Laboratory Information System (LIS), and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) platform. These products, named HealthKernel, LabKernel, and ClinicKernel, offered services such as scheduling, billing, patient data management, and workflow management. The company catered to a wide range of clients, from single-point clinics to large hospital networks, labs, and pharmacies. Revenue was generated through the implementation of its software, with a focus on delivering business value and a lower total cost of ownership for its customers. The platform was designed for scalability and could be deployed across various healthcare organizations, interfacing with over 1,100 medical devices to create a connected 'Internet of Things' ecosystem.
A significant milestone in the company's history was securing $10 million in a Series B funding round in October 2015, led by Norwest Venture Partners and Qualcomm Ventures. This funding was aimed at fueling growth in India and accelerating expansion into international markets, including Africa, West Asia, and South-East Asia. By 2015, the company supported over 10 million patient records across more than 200 clients in 14 countries. Tragically, in April 2016, co-founder and CEO Arvind Kumar passed away. Prior to this, the company had raised over $16 million from investors and was valued at nearly $60 million.
