ATRO Medical is a Nijmegen (NL) based firm developing the orthopedic innovation of the decade: the first artificial meniscus. The Artimis® Meniscus Prosthesis is designed to restore the shock absorbing function in the knee joint. As such, it aims to relief pain for 100,000’s of patients who suffer after removal of the native meniscus. With Artimis® they regain quality of life. The surgery is minimally invasive, straight-forward and fast to perform. Our artificial meniscus has received FDA Breakthrough designation, got the prestigious EIC Accelerator grant and won the JNJ Quickfire Award as best innovation for veterans. The Artimis® is currently under clinical investigation in a European multi-center study. First results on pain relief at the 2-year endpoint are promising.
